Get Ready to Read



Pre-k teachers didn’t have a common state-wide method of assessing children’s readiness prior to entering kindergarten.


RISE focused on a low-income school district (where ALL students qualify for free lunch) and developed and implemented a tool for pre-k educators to assess students and help them be more prepared for school.


53% of children increased their performance from fall to spring, and the program is now scaling statewide, and there is continuous development of readiness strategies in partnership with health providers.
